Terms of Use

Last updated: 5 September 2026

The rules of the game: your account, your photos, the golden rule of the live snag, and respect for wildlife.

The game

CHOPA is a collection game: you photograph animals you come across in real life, an AI identifies them, and they join your collection as cards. AI identification can get it wrong — you can correct or delete a snag at any time.

Your account

CHOPA is for people aged 15 and over: by using the app, you state that you are that age. You can play as a guest or link an account — with a sign-in code sent to your email address, or with your Google account — to keep your collection safe. An account is personal and is not to be lent out.

Golden rule: live photos only

Snags are made with the camera, live, and no other way. Photographing a screen, a book or anything else to cheat goes against the spirit of the game and may lead to the snags concerned being deleted.

Prohibited content

Refused, automatically or after a report: photos of identifiable people, sexual, violent or hateful content, cruelty to animals, and any unlawful content. Every photo goes through automated moderation before storage, and any content can be reported from inside the app.

Your photos

Your photos stay yours. By uploading them, you grant CHOPA a limited licence to host, process and display them, strictly as needed to run the service. That licence ends when the photo or your account is deleted.

Catalogue photos

The reference photos of the species come from image libraries under open licences (CC0 or CC-BY). The required attributions are kept with each photo.

Chopa+ subscription

Chopa+ is an optional subscription (weekly or yearly, or a one-off “lifetime” purchase) taken out through the App Store or Google Play. The price is shown before the purchase; the subscription renews automatically unless it is cancelled, no later than 24 hours before the renewal date, from the settings of your Apple or Google account. The free trial, where it is offered, turns into the paid subscription if it is not cancelled before it ends. “Unlimited” identifications mean normal personal use: anti-abuse limits may apply to protect the service.

Respect for wildlife

Snagging means watching without disturbing: keep your distance, do not chase animals, do not wreck their habitat and follow the rules, especially for protected species. Your safety and theirs come before the card.

Availability and changes

The service is provided “as is”: we do our best to keep it running well, with no guarantee of permanent availability. Features and these terms may change; notable changes will be flagged in the app.

Termination

You can stop using CHOPA and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend an account in the event of a serious or repeated breach of these terms.

Governing law
